Description:
This purpose of this project is to reduce pinyon-juniper encroachment into ponderosa pine, mountain big sagebrush, and black sagebrush communities. Improve indicator species and sensitive species habitat effectiveness in mature mountain big sagebrush areas, and to improve wildlife habitat effectiveness for species associated with sagebrush communities.. Reduce surface and ladder fuels in mixed conifer, ponderosa pine/riparian areas, and ponderosa pine in W.U.I.
Location:
The Sawyer Point Vegetation Treatment area is located within the Cedar City Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest in Garfield County and Kane County, Utah. The legal description for the project area is T38S, R6W, sections 3-8 and T37S, R6W, sections 26-35. The project area extends approximately from Asay Knoll East to US 89 and it is located approximately five miles north of the intersection of US 89 and US 14.
