Description:
DWR has found a willing seller to purchase water for the WMA. The water will be used to enhance the irrigated area. This water will be used through drip systems to irrigate hundreds of trees and shrubs planted on the WMA. This habitat provides food and cover for many species of birds and mammals. The Pahvant upland area is becoming very popular hunting area because of improved habitat found there.
Location:
The project is located on the Pahvant WMA North west of Fillmore UT.

Need For Project:
Water is in short supply on this WMA. The need for this water is to be able to irrigate additional cover for upland game habitat.
Objectives:
The objective is to increase wildlife habitat in the area for nesting cover and brood rearing habitat.

Without this increased cover and feed in the area, wildlife will suffer.

This water will be a fantastic addition to the Pahvant upland area and will benefit many species of birds and mammals. The water will allow more trees and shrubs to be planted in a very hot and cold environment. Many hunters are coming to hunt and enjoy the area because of the improved habitat found there.

Final Methods:
DWR purchased 1.0 acre-foot of water from a willing seller on June 6, 2018. The deeded has been recorded at the Millard County Recorders Office.
Project Narrative:
A water right change application has been filed with the State Engineers Office. DWR is waiting for the State Engineer to approve the change application.
Future Management:
The water right will be used to irrigate additional land on the Pahvant WMA. This water will increase food sources and cover for wildlife.
