To provide some financial assistance to UDOT to repair and replace approximately 1 mile of wildlife fencing along I-80 that was burned in the Toll Gate Fire.
Location:
The fence that was burned is from approximately mile marker 151 to 150 (the Toll Gate Exit) along the west bound lane of I-80 just west of Wanship in Summit County
Project Need
Need For Project:
The Toll Gate Fire that burned in the summer of 2018, burned down to I-80 for approximatly 1 mile along the road. The fire burned through the wildlfie fence that runs along the highway. With many of the posts burned the integrity of the fence to keep wildlfie off the ROW was severly impacted. UDOT has plans to repair or replace this portion of fence and has asked that UDWR contribute funds to assist in the repair.

Assist UDOT in the repair or replacement of approximately 1 mile of wildlife fence.

Fence construction was out out to bid and was awarded to Kolob Mountain Construction. Work on the rebuild proceeded spring of 2019 and was completed June of 2019.
Project Narrative:
Following the Fire in the summer of 2018, UDOT asked for UDWR participation in funding the rebuild of the Wildlife Exclusion fence. DWR agreed to contribute $10,000 to the project. Fence construction was out to bid and was awarded to Kolob Mountain Construction. Work on the rebuild proceeded spring of 2019 and was completed June of 2019.
Future Management:
Fence will be monitored and maintained by UDOT.
