Completion
Start Date:
07/01/2020
End Date:
06/30/2021
FY Implemented:
2021
Final Methods:
During fall 2020, UDWR captured and GPS collars 46 mountain goats on 4 units across Utah. Units and numbers are below. Willard Peak: 4 (wind issues and goat densities limited capture success) Tushars: 22 La Sal: 18 South Slope: 2
Project Narrative:
Currently, little is known about mountain goat survival and habitat use across Utah. This project will provide us with GPS collar data from 4 units spread across Utah to improve our understanding and management of mountain goats.
Future Management:
The GPS collared animals will be monitored for the next 4+ years or until the collars stop functioning. This data will allow us to direct management to improve management of mountain goats throughout Utah.
