Project Need
Need For Project:
A continuous line of fence comprised of two sections of updated wire fence but separated by roughly one mile of deteriorated buck and pull fence. The one mile of buck and pull fence is no longer excluding access to grazing animals. Once entry is gained, cattle have access to the entire section of riparian and stream corridor habitat.
Objectives:
1. Remove one mile of buck and bull fence materials.
2. Install one mile of wire fence to provide continuous protection along the upper strawberry river.

Compliance:
NEPA was completed in June 2003 (Decision Memo -- Silver Meadows Fence June 2003).
No further NEPA documentation is required for maintaining the fence line.
Methods:
Monitoring:
Partners:
East Daniel's Allotment permittees rebuilt a portion of the fence last year. The U.S. Forest Service and dedicated hunters will complete the remaining section of fence.
Future Management:
Permittees and F.S. personnel will stand up/lay down the fence at the appropriate times. General maintenance of the fence will occur, as needed, throughout the summer to ensure the fence condition is maintained to when it was constructed and to perpetuate the life of the fence.
