Description:
NWTF would like to fund an additional turkey trapper for the Northern Region for November 2025 through February 2026. If there are not many issues in the NR, this person could conduct winter flock counts, and help other regions with nuisance/depredations issues.

Employee will be based out of the Ogden office in the Northern Region.

Project Need
Need For Project:
Depredation and nuisance complaints vary from year to year. The Northern Region experiences chronic complaints throughout the winter, and NWTF would like to offer assistance.
Objectives:
This position will trap and translocate turkeys in the Northern Region, and other regions as necessary. If there are not many complaints, this employee will conduct winter flock counts other biological surveys as directed.

This position would represent the translocation section of the Wild Turkey Management Plan.

Compliance:
Trapping and translocation methodology will be conducted in accordance with the statewide Wild Turkey Management Plan.
Methods:
Walk-in traps will be the main method, but drop nets and net guns are also available if necessary.
Monitoring:
Male turkeys will be banded; all turkeys will be recorded in the translocation database.

Future Management:
NWTF may want to continue this project in the future, if funds are available.
Sustainable Uses of Natural Resources:
Creating new turkey populations or augmenting existing populations for the purpose of maintaining successful turkey populations and offering ample hunting opportunities.
