Michael SlaterFeb 1, 2022, 12:18:37 PMSandi, along the stream/river corridors we do not want to remove vegetation or trees. Some of the polygons look like they come right up to the water's edge. We have lost a lot of vegetation during the 2018 fires and want to leave whatever is left for the cutthroat/fish that are in these streams.

Guy WilsonFeb 1, 2022, 1:10:39 PMWe agree Michael. We have a 25 foot buffer off the streams edge. It just doesn't represent as well between the different spatial references. That said though if there is a long wall of vegetation limiting wildlife access to water we will poke a hole in the smaller vegetation, leaving overstory connectivity for shading to expand access to water.

Robert EdgelFeb 1, 2022, 1:49:09 PMWe met with our district biologists and aquatics biologists today to review projects and one concern we noticed was that some of the polygons are in areas that burned and already have only a few trees left. We recommend removing polygons from the project that only have a few trees. This is an important winter big game area and we want to leave some trees for them to have cover, especially in areas that burned.

Guy WilsonFeb 1, 2022, 4:57:13 PMI would be happy to talk with your biologist and see their area of concerns and specific polygons they are concerned with so we can come to agreement that benefits us all. We have already removed 2000 acres of lop and scatter from the severe fire scar areas. We took a year to walk every polygon to redesign the project to fit in less severe areas to make the connection to the fire and a natural or manmade feature to reduce the impacts from future fires. Remember this is lop and scatter of Phase 1 so the extensive phase 2 or 3 trees will still provide cover needed as the severe fire scar areas recovers. I have an extensive photo library of our ground recon post fire should a show me trip be necessary.
