Final Methods
Cultural, plant and wildlife surveys were completed on approx. 8,100 acres. Defensible space clearing mechanical thinning, piling and burning of piles occurred on approx 10 acresof private lands within the Old Woman CWMU in preparation for planned prescribed fire treatments. Approx. 153 acres of mastication were completed via Force Account equipment and operators. No seeding was needed in this area due to the under story currently present on this site.

Project Narrative
This phase of the project was only partially funded and primarily only included surveys and preparation for planned prescribed fire treatments. Some mastication treatment was started in areas that did not require prior seeding. This project sets up future planned phases for implementation of chaining, mastication and prescribed fire treatments of several thousand acres in the Salina Creek area. All ground work and planning for this phase was completed in FY21 however there was a late invoice from the USFS that required the project to be carried over to FY22.

Future Management
Salina Creek Phase 3 of this project is planned to be implemented spring 2022. This will include seeding, chaining, and mastication of the recently cultural surveyed areas. It also includes prescribed fire implementation on USFS and private lands. Additional future phases of treatments are also planned in this area over the next 3-5 years.
