2021

Project was flagged and layed out by BLM personnel. Aerial seeding contract started on November 16th 2020, it was completed in one day.  A total of 1,809 acres were seeded with a mix of grasses, forbs, and shrubs with a fix wing aircraft contracted by Hammond Helicopters.  Seed was consistent throughout the project area and contractor did a good job ensuring stipulations were met. 
Due to un availability of forage kochia seed no second seed flight took place.
1,640 acres were two way Ely chained, Chaining began on December 16th using two D8 dozers rented from Wheeler Machinery through a state contract. Dozers were operated by BLM personnel and fuel for dozers was coordinated by Curtis Roundy with the state DNR. Ely chains were coordinated and delivered by Ron Larson with the state DNR. On February 18th, 2021 two additional dozers were brought in to help with the chaining. The Chaining was complete on March 17th, 2021. Portions of the arch sites with in the project were mulched to meet project needs and archeologist desires.  Mechanical mulching began on March 25th, 2021.  Brushwacker inc. was awarded the contract and they completed mastication treatments on April 9th, 2021 for a total of 169 acres. Overall the project area looked good and met all contract stipulations and specifications.
