Final Methods
An anchor chain dragged between two D-9 bulldozers will be used to remove juniper and prepare the soil for seeding. Following the initial chaining grass and forb seed will be flown on with a fixed wing aircraft. The area will then be back-chained to cover seed and insure good removal of juniper. The Landowner will purchase and install a boundary fence of about 8 miles in order to exclude cattle from the area for a period of at least two years.

Project Narrative
Carling and Co. out of Fillmore was contracted to complete the two-way chaining. UDWR's new Ely chain was used to complete both passes of the chaining operation. This project was contracted along with Salt Cabin Reseed in the same general area. Therefore, the first pass was completed on this project from @ 10/10/06 to @10/20/06. We then moved the chain to the Salt Cabin Reseed where they begun the first pass of this project. Following completion of the first pass of both projects the aerial seeding was completed for both. Aero Eagle Aviation (Mike Thornton) was contracted to complete the aerial seeding for both projects. This seeding was completed on 11/02/06 flying off of the road north of Beryl junction. The seed may have been applied at a lower than planned rate as the pilot had a difficult time shutting off for the un-chained islands. In addition, we decided to include the Kochia in the main mix so only one seeding pass was completed and not the planned two passes. Following the seeding the second chaining pass was completed between @ 11/07/06 and 11/14/06. Fencing was installed by the landowner immediately following the completion of the chaining.
