Project Narrative
Working with local USFS,UFFSLs and landowners to complete needed treatments in the Salina Creek area. The purpose of the treatments are to enhance wildlife and habitat for numerous species including big game winter and transition range. This project also helps protect sensitive fish species located in Salina Creek. Interstate 70, private land with structures, and utility corridors are also being protected by reducing wildfire risk to the area. Project is complementing previous phases on both private and USFS lands in the area. This project includes private and USFS lands and is jointly being completed in collaboration with FFSL, private landowners and the USFS. This phase of the project was a continuation of the previous phases and focused on the prescribed fire treatments on both USFS and private lands. The mastication portion of this project also occurred and created a buffer between private lands and several homes locate in Salina Creek. This sets up for future prescribed burning planned in this area during planned upcoming phases. Wildlife, botany, and range surveys were completed for future phases of this project as well.
