Short Description of Project
Phase 2 of this project will involve improving aspen ecosystems on the Monroe Mountain by mechanically thinning conifer within 600-800 acres of aspen stands, prescribed fire within approximately 1,700 acres of aspen/mixed conifer stands, pile burning of phase I activity fuels, 500 acres of seeding, boreal toad monitoring, and layout/marking/surveys within approximately 900 acres of mixed conifer/spruce fir stands in preparation for future commercial mechanical thinning.
A brief summary of the project. Identify the output (e.g. Improve 500 acres of deer winter range by chaining and seeding a pinyon-juniper woodland), not the expected outcome (e.g. Increase carrying capacity of deer winter range).
*
Short Description of Project Location
The Monroe Mountain Aspen Ecosystems Restoration Project includes south-central Utah's Monroe Mountain, located south of Richfield, west of Koosharem, and east of Marysvale. The greater Monroe Mountain area encompasses approximately 175,706 acres of National Forest lands administered by the Fishlake National Forest's Richfield Ranger District, and approximately 11,805 acres of private inholdings. Work will continue in the southern 1/3 portion of Monroe Mountain.
Provide general location information. For example, "Five miles east of Sterling on the Manti-LaSal National Forest" or "A one-mile section of the East Fork Sevier River, five miles downstream of Otter Creek Reservoir."
