Final Methods
Thinning project (hand thinning/lop/scatter) was awarded to GE Forestry on Nov 10th, 2021. Contractor delayed operations until June of 2024. Contractor completed 150 acres and then left the site. The contractor failed to return. March 26, 2025, a letter was sent from the State of Utah, Department or Natural Resources informing the contractor of the termination of the contract. The contractor was given until May 1st, 2025, to invoice for acreage completed ($13,350.00). Contractor failed to invoice and thus lost claim to any payment. Work that was completed was excellent.

Project Narrative
This project was for thinning of pinyon-juniper approximately 10 miles southeast of Beaver, Utah. Objective of thinning PJ was to improve stand health and understory vegetation for big game. Stands were thinned to a variable spacing of approximately 30 x 30 with larger (10 inch pinyon/14 inch juniper) overstory trees retained. By thinning, stand health was improved (decreased risk to insect/disease, stand replacing fire, increased production of nuts) and understory vegetation was also improved.
